DAMASCUS, April 8 (Xinhua) -- A suicide explosive-packed car went off Monday at a street in central Damascus close to the Saba' a Bahrat Square, the state-TV said, adding that the explosion left material losses and many victims.
The explosive-packed car went off between al-Shahbander Street and the Saba'a Bahrat Square, where the country's Central Bank is located, the TV said, giving no further details on casualties.
Meanwhile, the pro-government Sham FM radio said the blast site is close to a school, adding that many people were killed, inducing children.
The news came as the Syrian army was boasting advancement in rebellious areas outlining Damascus.
