Pretoria, Jan 26 (People’s Daily Online) — “South African police should learn some Chinese Kung-Fu, so that there’s no need to worry about the rampant crime anymore,” A South African audience claimed after enjoying the fabulous Chinese Kung-Fu show displayed by the delegates from China.

Thanks to the closer relationship between the two countries. Her wish might soon turn into reality. As Police Counselor Wang Zhigang revealed on Thursday, Chinese Embassy was working closely with S.A. government to promote Chinese martial arts among local police schools.

Last year, nearly 50 police officers from Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town took basic Mandarin courses. Top students from them were sent to China to further their study.

General Tommy Mthombeni, Cluster Commander of Pretoria Central Police Station, was the leader of the delegation and just came back from China in late December.

“The benefit is already there. We’ve seen best practice of Chinese police system, which can be applied to ours, to move forward on issues that concerns all of our people,” he said, “The bilateral relationship is growing day by day. And we are looking forward to many more projects of crime prevention. ”

Police officers from several clusters, representatives from community police forums, students and headmasters of local high schools attended the show in Pretoria Metropolitan Police Headquarter. They took out their cell phones to record the performance, which brought loud cheers, wolf whistles and enthusiastic applause.
